Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Friday 10 October 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy on the highway in Doura, south Baghdad at 8 a.m.Friday killing two civilians, injuring twelve.

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S military convoy in Madain, to the southeast of Baghdad around 2 p.m. Friday. One military vehicle was destroyed, according to Iraqi Police. The U.S. military commented: "There was an IED hit at 1:38 p.m. today that hit a tanker truck. Everyone in the truck evacuated with zero injuries. We aren't sure if the truck was destroyed or not."

A parked car bomb detonated near an open air market in Abu Desheer neighbourhood, Doura in southern Baghdad at 5 p.m. Friday killing twelve civilians, injuring twenty two. The explosion also burned down five stores, part of a three story residential building and destroyed seven civilian cars.

One unidentified body was found in Ghadeer, east Baghdad by Iraqi police today.


A roadside bomb exploded near al-Hkidhr Mosque in Bab al-Toob, central Mosul at 12.45 p.m. Friday killing two civilians, injuring fourteen.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in al-Faisaliyah neighbourhood, downtown Mosul at 1 p.m. causing no casualties or damages.
