Round-up of Daily Violence - Wednesday 16 July 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- Around 4 am a roadside bomb detonated in Ghazaliyah neighborhood( west Baghdad). Two people were injured.

- Around 6 am a roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Salhiyah neighborhood( downtown Baghdad). Four people were injured including two policemen.


- A roadside bomb targeted an American patrol in Mosul city. Two Iraqi people were injured.

- A car bomb detonated in a local market in Tal Afar in Mosul( north of Baghdad). Sixteen people were killed including 3 women and one kid and 94 others were wounded including 10 children and 8 women.

- A car bomb detonated in Mosul city. Two people were killed and 8 others wounded.

- A suicide car bomber targeted an American patrol in Al-Sinayee neighborhood in central Mosul city. Six Iraqi people were injured with no casualties reported on the American side.


-Gunmen opened fire on a civilian car in downtown Basra city. Two people were injured.
