Round-up of Daily Violence - Tuesday 15 July 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


- Around 8:30 am a roadside bomb targeted the convoy of the minister of electricity Mr.Waheed Kareem in Zayuna neighborhood in eastern Baghdad. Two people were injured.

- Around 4:30 pm a mortar shell hit Salhiyah neighborhood(downtown Baghdad). Two people were killed including one traffic policeman and nine others wounded including another traffic policeman.

- Police found one dead body in Dora neighborhood in south Baghdad.


- Two suicide bombers detonated in quick succession at Saad camp for recruiters who want to join the security forces in Baquba(40 miles north of Baghdad). 22 recruiters were killed and 57 were injured.


- Around 9am a bomb planted inside a police car detonated in downtown Tikrit city. The policeman was injured in that incident.


- A roadside bomb targeted a commandos police car near the oil warehouses in downtown Kirkuk. 4 policemen and one truck driver were wounded in that incident.


- A car bomb detonated in Arabi neighborhood in Mosul city. No casualties reported.

- A suicide car bomber detonated before reaching its target as the policemen opened fire on it in Noor neighborhood . On policeman was killed in that explosion.

-A car bomb detonated in the July 17th neighborhood targeting an army patrol . 6 people were injured including 2 soldiers.
