Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq, Thursday 10 July 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Sleikh, northern Baghdad at 9 a.m. Thursday. No casualties were reported.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Palestine Street, eastern Baghdad, near al-Mawal Restaurant at 10.30 a.m. killing one, wounding four.

A suicide car bomb targeted an Iraqi Army patrol in Hay Dragh, Mansour neighbourhood at 1 p.m. Thursday killing two civilians and injuring eleven people including three army servicemen.

One unidentified body was found in Baghdad today; it was found by Iraqi Police in Saba al-Bor neighbourhood.

Sulaimaniyah

Four gunmen from Ansar al-Islam, a Kurdish Qaeda related group attacked Border Guard HQs in Panjween area, northeastern Sulaimaniyah at 6 a.m. Thursday. No casualties were reported.

Kirkuk

One unidentified body was found by local police in the district of Tuz, Thursday. The body was riddled with bullet holes.

Gunmen opened fire upon a civilian car in Tel al-Werd, south western Kirkuk, Wednesday, severely injuring two civilians. It turns out they were husband and wife, both doctors.

Nineveh

Brigadier General Riyadh Jarallah Kashmula, Head of Iraqi Identity and Civil Affairs department in Mosul was assassinated Thursday. He was shot by gunmen as he left his office and headed home. Kashmula is a cousin of Duraid Kashmula Governor of Nineveh who survived an assassination attempt himself some weeks ago.
