This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
A student attending Ministry Board Examinations (Baccalaureate) in Saba Abkar examination centre, Adhamiyah, northern Baghdad fired a shot during a visit by the Minister of Education to the centre Thursday morning. The security personnel accompanying the Minister returned fire injuring three students as a result of shattered glass, according to the ministry spokesman.
Two unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad by Iraqi Police today; one in Doura and the other in Amil.
Diyala
A roadside bomb exploded near shepherds in Shirween area, Muqdadiyah district, 35 km to the east of Baquba at 12.30 p.m. Thursday, injuring three of them.
Anbar
A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest detonated in a meeting between the sheikhs of the tribes of the town of Karmah, representing Sahwa (U.S. backed Awakening Councils) in Anbar and a U.S. Commander, at 11.30 a.m. Thursday, killing at least 15, including many sheikhs amongst whom was Sheikh Mizhir, a renowned sheikh of Jumaili tribe, injuring 30 others, said Iraqi Police. The U.S. Commander was said to have been injured, according to eye witnesses. No comment was available from the U.S. military at time of publication. This attack came only a few days before the security file of Anbar province was to be handed over to the Iraqi authorities.
A mortar round targeted al-Faris Police Station in al-Amiriyah, Fallujah at 8 a.m. Thursday, killing one civilian and seriously injuring one policeman. Two police vehicles were destroyed.
Three Multi-National Force - West Marines and two interpreters were killed in action against an enemy force in Anbar Province June 26, according to a U.S. military release.
Nineveh
An RBG attack near the governorate building took place at 1.30 p.m. injuring five of the Governor's security personnel. The governor, Duraid Kashmula and other employees came out to see when a parked car bomb exploded in the vicinity where there is an open air market at 1.35 p.m. at the height of the rush hours for weekend shopping killing 18 civilians, injuring more than 70, and eight policemen.
