The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb exploded in Ur neighbourhood, northern Baghdad at 7 am Wednesday. No casualties were reported.

4 mortar rounds fell on the Green Zone at 8 am today. No casualties were reported.

Pronounced presence of gunmen in al-Amin and al-Mashtal neighbouthoods. They forced the schools to send the students home.

2 mortar rounds fell in Bayaa neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad at 12.15 pm injuring 2 civilians.

2 mortar rounds fell in al-Amil neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad at noon Wednesday, injuring 6 civilians.

Armed confrontations broke out between gunmen and the US military in Baladiyat neighbourhood, eastern Baghdad at 2 pm. The fighting is on going and no reports of casualties were available at time of publication.

4 unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad by Iraqi Police today. 1 in Palestine Street; 1 in Khulani Square; 1 in Qahira and 1 in Ataifiyah.

Tikrit

2 unidentified bodies were found in west Tikrit by the local police Tuesday evening.

Diyala

A roadside bomb targeted a civilian pick up truck carrying women, injuring all six, three of whom are critical, at 7.50 am Wednesday. The truck was on its way from al-Baijat village, 15 km to the south of Buhruz, heading towards Baquba.

Kirkuk

A roadside bomb exploded targeting a patrol of the Abbasi Support Forces on the route from al-Abbasi to al-Hilf, al Abbasi area in Hawija district,to the south west of Kirkuk this morning. The explosion killed two of the force members and wounded another two, one of whom was the field commander.
