Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Monday December 3, 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad - Around 9 a.m., gunmen in Al Eskan area killed a high-ranking officer who works as an inspector in the Ministry of Interior and injured his driver. - Police found five bodies in Baghdad, in Nahrawan, Saadon, Doura, Washash and Saidiyah. Mosul - Gunmen attacked police in Sumer neighborhood, south Mosul, killing four police and injuring two others. Police killed seven gunmen. - Police found two bodies in Mosul. Kirkuk - Gunmen attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Al Riyadh area, west Kirkuk, killing four soldiers, Iraqi police said. Tikrit - Gunmen attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Beiji, north of Tikrit, injuring two soldiers. Iraqi soldiers killed three gunmen, two of them were non-Iraqi Arabs, Iraqi police said. Basra - Gunmen killed Hamdi Al Basri, sports teacher in Ali Al Hadi middle school, in front of his students as they left the school today, Iraqi police said.
