Roundup of violence in Iraq Tuesday 12 June 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad.

-3 civilians were wounded in an IED explosion in Al Waleed neighborhood south east Baghdad around 10,00 am.

-2 civilians were killed and 2 others wounded in an IED explosion targeted the civilians in Al Rusafi square downtown Baghdad around 3,15 pm.

The following incidents happened from 4 pm till 9 pm.

->A civilian was injured when he tried to pull out a body in Mansour neighborhood downtown Baghdad. The body was bombed and thrown in the area.

-The bodies of 2 lawyers exploded when police patrols tried to put them in the cars in Saidiyah neighborhood south Baghdad. No casualties among police or civilians reported.

-1 civilian was killed and 2 wounded when a mortar shell hit Al Bayaa neighborhood south Baghdad.

-A policeman was injured by a sniper in Karrada neighborhood downtown Baghdad.

-An Iraqi army soldier was killed and 2 others injured in an IED explosion targeted their patrol in Adhemiyah neighborhood north Baghdad.

Diyala

-gunmen was killed in clashes between police force and gunmen in Al Tahreer neighborhood south Baquba police said. The source said that a policeman an d a civilian were injured in the clashes.

-3 civilians were inured when mortar shells hit Al Khloof village in Bani Saad yesterday evening.

-2 civilians were wounded in an IED explosion targeted a car coming to Baghdad.

-2 men were injured when mortar shells hit one of the examination centers in Al Asri area in Al Khalis town north of Baquba city. The two men were escorting their daughters while the daughters were doing the exams.

-Gunmen exploded two houses of displaced families in Al Khalis town early morning today.

-Gunmen from what is called the Islamic state of Iraq kidnapped two brothers of a police officer and one of his sons when they broke up the officer’s house in Al Mu’alimeen neighborhood downtown uqdadiyah town north east of Baquba city.

-2 civilians were killed and 2 others were wounded when gunmen opened fire targeting a mini bus near Al Aswad district south Khalis today afternoon.

-2 men were killed by gunmen near Albo Azeez village in Khalis town today afternoon.

-3 civilians were wounded in an IED explosion in Zafaraniyah

-2 civilians were killed and 6 others wounded in an IED explosion in Bab Al Muathim neighborhood downtown Baghdad.

-3 policemen were killed by gunmen in Bob Al Sham area north

Baghdad.

-26 bodies were found in Baghdad today. 21 bodies were found in Karkh, the western part of Baghdad in the following neighborhoods (2 bodies Rahmaniyah, 3 bodies in Doura, 3 bodies in Jihad, 3 bodies in Saidiyah, 2 bodies in Ano Ghraib, 2 bodies in kadhimiyah, 2 bodies in Yarmouk, 3 bodies in Amil and 1 body in Mansour). 5 bodies were found in Rusafa, the eastern part of Baghdad in the following neighborhood (1 body in Zafaraniyah, 1 body in Sadr city, 1 body in Jamila, 1 body in Raghiba Khatoon and 1 body in Jumhuriyah St.).

Kirkuk

-A civilian was injured when gunmen opened fire in Al Nasir neighborhood downtown Kirkuk city yesterday evening.

-5 policemen were injured when an IED explosion targeted a police patrol in Al Zab area north west of Kirkuk city early morning today.

-A policeman was killed when gunmen targeted him inside Al Hawija market west of Kirkuk today afternoon.

Basra.

-A security source said that a civilian was killed when the British forces opened fire targeting a taxi in Al Qibla neighborhood west Basra city last night.

-A security source in Basra city police said that police had arrested a gang specialized in killing the barbers. A security source said that the gang was arrested on Monday evening adding that the gang contained of four men and one of them was killed in the clashes with the police. The source said that the men are not from Basra and one them was from Diyala.
