Baghdad

- 11:45 a.m. Al-Alawi area was targeted by mortars that fall near the Patriotic Union of Krdistan Partyís headquarters, no casualties.

- 12:15 a.m. IED explodes near Hussein Bin Rooh Mosque, in the central shopping district of Shorja, very close to Al Araby market. Four civilians were killed and 25 wounded.

- Around 3:30 p.m. a mortar shell landed on a residents neighborhood in Mahmoudiya city. The shelling injured one civilian.

- Around 4 p.m. a road side bomb exploded in Al Saidiyah neighborhood. The blast targeted civilians and caused injuries to one civilian.

- Around 4:30 p.m. mortar shells landed on the residents houses on Saba Al Bour town. The shelling caused injuries to 5 residents.

- Around 6:00 p.m. A mortar shell landed on Al Habibiya area. The shelling injured one civilian.

- Around 6:00 p.m. mortar shells targeted the residentsí houses in Jisr Diyala area. The shelling injured 4 civilians.

- Police found 30 dead bodies throughout Baghdad. Two dead bodies were found on the eastern side of the city (Risafa) and 28 dead bodies were found on the western side (Karkh). The following is the number of dead bodies per neighborhood.

1 in Sileikh, 1 in Bunouk, 7 in Dora, 3 in Jihad, 2 in Adil, 1 in Risala, 5 in Shuala, 1 Yarmouk, 2 in Amil, 5 in Ghazaliyah, 1 in Kadhmiya and 1 in ???

Diyala

- A source in the Iraqi Army in the city of Baqouba said gunmen opened fire on a convoy of joint MNF and Iraqi forces in the town of Buhruz yesterday evening. A clash lasted for more than thirty minutes resulted in the death of two terrorists. The source added that a large cache of weapons and ammunition was found in the area and destroyed.

- A source in the Joint Cooperation Centre of Diyala, announced that a terrorist sniper had situated himself atop the high building in Al-Tahrir area, and shot the policeman in charge of security in the Centre in the back seriously wounding him, and barely missed the spokesman of the said centre.

- 3 civilians seriously wounded in an explosion of an IED that targeted their car, they were taken to a hospital in Baghdad because passing through Muradiya town to Baquba would have been suicidal.

- 3 members of one displaced family were injured when an IED exploded targeting the vehicle carrying their furniture, in the town of Shamsiya to the south of Baladrooz city, this morning said a source from the JCC in Baquba.

- A source in the JCC said that Iraqi forces have detained five suspected of the attack upon a bus carrying employees from Khalis on their way home yesterday; attack which had resulted in 7 killed and 4 wounded.

- On Monday afternoon mortar shelling targeted Al Khalis city (20 Km north of Baqouba). The shelling claimed the lives of four citizens and caused injuries to other 5.

Kirkuk

- IED targeted a police patrol from Taza Police Station near Sami Al-Asi village on the road between Taza and Al-Rashad. Three policemen were killed. The source added that the wounded were taken to hospital for immediate medical care, without mentioning a number.

- 01:15: Six explosions rocked the city of Kirkuk. They were almost simultaneous.

1- Near Al-Ashra Al-Mubeshara Mosque, in the city centre.

2- Near Mansour Mosque, in the city centre, in the city centre.

3- Near the Asiacell Communicationsí tower, in the city centre.

4- Near the Institute of Technology, in the city centre.

5- Near the Directorate of Education, in the city centre.

6- Near the Directorate of Civil Defense.

Three of these explosions were car bombs, and three were IEDs. 12 civilians were killed, and 37 wounded, said Brigadier Sarhad Qadir, Kirkuk Police.

Basra

- A statement announced by the MNF spokesman for the Southern Region early this morning, said that the British Forces had injured one gunman during a confrontation with an armed group in the centre of the city.

- 2 killed and 1 wounded in a tribal conflict in Hwair area, 100 km to the north of the city, said Major Rafií Al-Mousawi.

- IED explodes near the house of citizen Iydan Khalaf in Al-Hussein neighborhood, 8 km west of the city, causing material losses.

Tikrit

- Iraqi Police sources, in the district of Dhuluíiya stated that a large number of armed men, about twenty, attacked the Southern Police Station and the Suburbsí Police Station, early this morning. They detained the staff and captured the weapons and ammunition in both stations, after which they blew up the stations themselves. Later they set the staff free, took the weapons and ammunition and withdrew.

- 1 Iraqi soldier killed and 3 wounded in Dor, 20 km southwest the city of Tikrit, when an IED targeted their patrol, early this morning, said a police source.

- In Baiji, south of Tikrit, one Facilities and Projects Security guard was killed by gunmen near the Fetha area. The source added that the gunmen were driving modern Toyotas.
