Roundup of violence in Iraq - 31 December

The daily Iraq violence roundup is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchyís Washington Bureau.

BAGHDAD

At 8:30 this morning one mortar fell at kadhumyiah area northern Baghdad behind al kadhumiyah hospital. It fell at a civilian's house killing 2 children and injuring the parents.

At 11 o'clock this morning a car bomb left by the roadside exploded in al shawaka area near Haifa street that killed 1 civilian and injured 4 others.

At 12 this noon a car bomb left by the roadside exploded in al hurriyah area north west Baghdad. 1 civilian was killed and 6 others were injured.

At 11 this morning one mortar fell in al zafaraniyah area southern Baghdad at a residential area, 3 civilians were injured.

At 1 o'clock this afternoon one mortar fell at al kadhumiyah area northern Baghdad at al auroba square, 2 civilians were injured.

Today 7 dead bodies were found in all over Baghdad, 3 in sadr city, 1 dora, 1 hurriayah, 1 kadhumiyah and 1 jihad.
