The Syrian army turned the national hospital at Azaz in northern Syria into a military base to attack the town last June but lost the town to rebels  the following month. Rebels restored the hospital and the army then bombed it from the air in January.

Flares are set off as emotions and excitement take over Saturday, March 9, 2013, outside Cairo, Egypt's Ultras Al-Ahly football club over the Egyptian court's verdict in the Port Said trial, which confirmed the death sentences of 21 people stemming from a 2012 soccer riot. The ruling also acquitted seven police officers of their alleged roles in the incident.
