On Capitol Hill, there's a caucus for practically everything, so it had to happen sooner or later: Get ready for the TPP Caucus.
That's short for Trans-Pacific Partnership, President Barack Obama's big effort to boost trade with Pacific Rim countries.
It will be called the Friends of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Caucus, co-chaired by Republican Reps. David Reichert of Washington state and Charles Boustany of Louisiana and Democratic Reps. Ron Kind of Wisconsin and Gregory Meeks of New York.
They plan to announce the launch of the caucus at a press conference at 4:30 p.m. today on Capitol Hill.
Ambassadors or representatives from 11 countries that are working on the deal with the U.S. are expected to attend.
Those countries are Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.
