Bellingham firm anticipates 2011 tax changes for small businesses

A Bellingham firm is expanding its payroll services to aid small businesses that will be affected by an IRS change in 2011.

Starting in January, the IRS will no longer accept paper tax deposits or checks from employers with more than $2,500 in quarterly liability. Business Support Services Northwest of Bellingham is responding by making its payroll processing services, which include electronic tax deposits, available as a stand-alone option for small- and medium-sized businesses.

"This change will affect many businesses that aren't set up to make electronic deposits," said Angela Flake of Business Support Services NW in a press release. "Payroll already is a complex area resulting in time-consuming problems for businesses that make mistakes in payroll checks, tax deposits or returns." Read the complete story at
