Getting a job when the state unemployment rate is at a record 11.2 percent is no easy feat. But for the Triangle's older workers, the task can be particularly daunting.
Employers think you'reover-qualified. They worry you'll want too much money. They fear you'll quit as soon as a better job comes along.
Joe Goodson says the only thing to do is to keep applying.
I don't feel like I'm older," said Goodson, 50, who lives in Raleigh. "I really think employers are looking for people who are going to do the job."
So Goodson joined about 1,000 other workers Tuesday at job fair in Raleigh that targeted unemployed workers over 50.
