RALEIGH, N.C. -- James Jones of Greenville, N.C., thought he had a winning Mega Millions lottery ticket, but to be sure he drove back to the convenience store where he bought it.
The store manager reached for the ticket, but Jones wouldn't part with it. Instead, he talked the manager into letting him behind the counter so they could both verify the numbers.
"The machine went 'cling clang,' and the manager told me, 'You no can cash it here.' I asked him how much is it, but he didn't answer," Jones said. "When I got in my car I started to get a little excited. I started to realize I might have hit it big."
