Principal who told parent to 'eat sh-- and die' is removed

An embattled principal who gained notoriety last week for e-mailing a parent to "eat sh-- and die" was temporarily reassigned Tuesday, a school district spokesman said.

Eva N. Ravelo, 45, the principal at Coconut Grove Elementary School, has been transferred to the Region 3 office, said John Schuster, chief communications officer for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

The school district has assigned Catalina Flor, formerly an assistant principal at Kinloch Park Elementary School, as Coconut Grove Elementary's administrator-in-charge, Schuster said.

Flor has been with the school system since 1988.

Meanwhile, Ravelo will work at the regional office while school officials investigate a May 10 incident in which Ravelo e-mailed the message, "Advise her to eat sh-- and die," to Abigail DuBearn, a parent.
