Kentucky ex-lawmaker Nunn to get psychiatric evaluation

A Fayette district court judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation of former state Rep. Steve Nunn.

Nunn is accused of killing his former fiancée, Amanda Ross, on Sept. 11 outside her home.

Fayette District Judge Julie Muth Goodman ordered Tuesday that Nunn be evaluated at Bluegrass Comprehensive Care. The evaluation will be at the Fayette County jail, where he is being held.

The evaluation is to determine whether Nunn was criminally responsible for his alleged actions, said Brian Mattone, first assistant county attorney.

Prosecutors and Astrida Lemkins, Nunn's attorney, agreed to request the evaluation.

Nunn is charged with murder and violation of a domestic-violence protection order. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case has been sent to the grand jury for consideration.

Nunn was not in court for Tuesday's hearing.
