Woman in California survives lightning strike unscathed

STOCKTON, Calif. &mash; A mom watching her child's softball game survived being struck by lightning Saturday morning at the Stockton Regional Sports Complex near Arch Road.

Witnesses said the woman was holding an umbrella, putting away equipment by the bleachers when the force of the blast knocked her off her feet.

"All of a sudden, I just saw this ... boom," team parent Juanita Torres told CBS Channel 13. "It was just unbelievable."

The woman, who is in her 40s, was taken by ambulance to San Joaquin General Hospital and released a few hours later, according to Leanne Riley, on-duty supervisor with Life Com, the San Joaquin County medical and fire emergency dispatch system. She reportedly never lost consciousness.
