Ten sisters, three of them cancer survivors, walk in Race for the Cure

OLATHE, Kan. — A burst of infectious laughter echoed throughout the Olathe coffee shop.

Oblivious to the attention they attracted, the Clinesmith sisters cast twinkling eyes at each other in delight. Close friends, they enjoy spending every moment together catching up on the latest family news.

But life hasn’t always been so cheerful for the 10 sisters, who range in age from 47 to 65.

When one of them got breast cancer four years ago, they were devastated.

When another sister got the same disease seven months later, they were stunned.

And when the youngest sister was diagnosed with leukemia last year, it tested their faith.

Years of crying, praying and comforting drained the sisters.

Now that they are all cancer-free, the women are ready to celebrate.

Saturday, they will show each other sisterly support by walking together in Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
