Water project springing up in Biloxi area

HANCOCK COUNTY — Ground was broken last week on millions of dollars worth of water and sewer projects that will help the Coast continue hurricane recovery as it prepares for future growth.

Local and state officials in Hancock and Jackson counties hefted golden shovels to celebrate ground-breaking projects in locations ranging from Kiln to Gautier and elsewhere. Included in the new work are improvements to regional wastewater-treatment plants and a production facility that will provide new water sources to Kiln and points south.

"It's going to be amazing to the public what's about to happen in Hancock County,” said Trudy Fisher, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
