New hotels are popping up in Olathe for the first time since 2000.
Three hotels were built this year. Two more are scheduled to open next year and another is slated for 2010. And some existing hotels are renovating, even adding more rooms.
By the end of the decade, the city will have doubled its hotel inventory.
As Olathe continued to grow, adding residents and businesses, the city didn't build a hotel for almost 10 years, said Tim McKee, the Olathe chamber's vice president of economic development.
"So there was pent up demand," he said.
