RALEIGH - Tacos and margaritas don't draw crowds to El Palacio Latino, the latest in a string of restaurants to founder along a lonely strip of Capital Boulevard just north of downtown.So owner Danny Shilleh is pinning his hopes on an idea that is both risky and risque: a topless club with a Latino theme.
But it will be Latino with a decidedly urban twist, with dancers spinning their moves to reggaeton, a stew of Spanish-language dance music that originated in Panama and blends hip-hop, reggae and Latin rhythms ranging from salsa and bomba to merengue.
"You know, Daddy Yankee?," Shilleh said, describing reggaeton's Puerto Rican star. "Anyone can come. The place doesn't look bad, just no people."
