A Royal Lipizzan horse ranch best known for its public training sessions is facing foreclosure in Florida.
Whitney National Bank is suing to foreclose on Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria ranch on Singletary Road, claiming the Herrmann family has defaulted on more than $1 million in loans.
The suit, filed Friday in Manatee County Circuit Court, names Col. Ottomar Herrmann's estate; his daughter, Gabriella Herrmann; and her daughter, Rebecca McCullough, as defendants.
Ottomar Herrmann helped rescue the rare breed during World War II and later established the Myakka City ranch, where he trained the white stallions for performances across the country. He died in 2004 at age 75.
