Search on for two women missing in Alaska national park

ANCHORAGE — Erica Nelson is supposed to be in Texas right now, preparing to be maid of honor at her sister's weekend wedding. Instead, she and a friend are subjects of a massive search in Denali National Park.

Park officials remain mystified by the disappearance of Nelson, 23, and Abby Flantz, 25, who were due back from an overnight camping trip Friday. They were reported missing Saturday morning when they failed to show up for their jobs at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. Nelson is from Las Vegas and Flantz is from Gaylord, Minn.

Park officials haven't ruled out foul play. Aerial searchers spotted the remains of two moose kills in the area, meaning there are grizzlies around, but a wildlife encounter isn't high on searchers' list of possibilities. More likely, the women were injured or encountered trouble trying to cross the Savage River, something they needed to do to get to their stated destination.
