Florida legislature gives $1.25 million to wrongly convicted man

The Florida Legislature has agreed to give Alan Crotzer $1.25 million as compensation for the 24 ½ years he spent in prison for two rapes he did not commit.

The state Senate voted 33-5 Thursday afternoon to give Crotzer the money, following a unanimous House vote last week.

Crotzer, 47, accepted a standing ovation from the lawmakers while in the Senate gallery with his wife and two stepchildren. Tears streamed from his eyes.
