Buddies build home for fallen firefighter's widow and sons.

Firefighters from Macon-Bibb County and Atlanta, Georgia, built a two-story log cabin for the widow and young sons of fireman Steven Solomon, killed in a Thanksgiving blaze in 2006.

"Every time they walk in, they'll know their father lives through the large family he left behind," said Marvin Riggins, Macon-Bibb County's interim fire chief.

Tears welled up in Sarena Solomon's eyes as she saw the 1,800-square-foot, three bedroom home that teams of firefighters put up in 7 months. It'll be home to her and sons Kennard, 13, and Kenneth, 10.

"I am so happy and overwhelmed with joy," she said, standing in her new front yard at a dedication ceremony on Briar Creek Run in Lizella.
