Michelle Obama will give awards to two California youth groups at the White House next week.
The San Francisco-based Next Gen Bay Area Video Coalition and tribal youth ambassadors from the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center in Santa Rosa are among a dozen awardees of the 2016 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award.
The award is meant to support the best after-school arts and humanities programs in the country.
It’s a function of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, an advisory group to the White House on cultural issues that was created in 1982 under President Ronald Reagan.
