Dr. Martha Post, a long-time Lexington dermatologist, was trying to back out of the parking lot at her office when she was apparently shot multiple times Thursday night.
No arrests had been made by Friday afternoon. However, Sherelle Roberts, spokeswoman for Lexington police, said police have "persons of interest" in the doctor's slaying.
Police were called to 150 Lowery Lane about 7:45 p.m. Thursday after Post's van struck a car in the street. The vehicle traveled backward several dozen feet from a space in the parking lot, ran over a curb, struck a tree branch, traveled over a sidewalk and into the street before hitting a vehicle on Huguenard Drive. Tire prints could be seen in the grass Friday.
Roberts said the van was in reverse when Post was apparently shot and that's why it rolled onto the street.
