Kansas City ballpark victim to copper thieves

Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Department employees discovered Monday that thieves had stolen a substantial amount of copper wiring from Hidden Valley Park over the weekend.

The employees determined that an unknown person or persons had pried open 26 light fixtures and stolen underground copper fixtures used to illuminate several softball ball fields at the park at 6500 N.W. Valleyview Road.

The Blue Springs police department is investigating.
