A man died last week from injuries received during a cockfight in Tulare County.
According to the Kern County Coroner's Office, Jose Luis Ochoa, 35, of Lamont died Jan. 30 from injuries he received from a fighting rooster during the cockfight at Avenue 24 and Road 128 near Earlimart.
A spokesman for the Kern coroner said an artery in Ochoa's leg was severed by a blade attached to the rooster's leg.
Ochoa was taken to a Delano hospital where he died, so the death was investigated in Kern County.
