North Miami police investigating the death of 26-year-old Paula Sladewski — whose burned body was found in a trash bin on Jan. 3 — confirmed surveillance video shows her leaving a Miami club the day she was killed.
On Friday, the attorney for her boyfriend, Kevin Klym, released the grainy clip to the media, but at the time police said they could not confirm Sladewski was on the video.
"Without a doubt that is her in that video leaving the club," said Lt. Neal Cuevas, a North Miami police spokesman.
Detectives "did say one or two individuals walking behind her are the club bouncers escorting her out," he said. A time stamp on the video shows her leaving about 7:20 a.m. on Jan. 3.
Sladewski and her boyfriend, who split their time between Michigan and Southern California, flew into South Florida on Dec. 31 to celebrate New Year's.
On Jan. 3, the two had been drinking for several hours at Club Space and argued. Klym was thrown out of the club and said he took a taxi back to his hotel. North Miami police have confirmed he left in a cab and arrived at his hotel, Cuevas said. Klym reported Sladewski missing later that night.
Police said Klym is a "person of interest" because he was one of the last people seen with her, and that he has been cooperating with investigators. Her family said the two had a volatile relationship.
