Two rebuffed party crashers who returned and fired into a crowd, injuring one man, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Elk Grove police say.Injured was Andrew Tapalla of Sacramento, who was shot in the buttock and taken to Methodist Hospital in south Sacramento for surgery.
The shooting occurred at 11 p.m. Friday, Elk Grove police said.
They said Steven Brown, of Elk Grove, and a 17-year-old Sacramento boy tried to crash the party in the 8300 block of Caldicot Drive.
When they were denied access, police said they got angry, left the party, and minutes later drove by the house and shot into a crowd of people.
Police encountered the suspects fleeing in their vehicle and arrested the pair.
Police said that when they conducted a pat-down search of Brown, a small-caliber handgun fell to the ground from inside his pant leg.
Additional evidence was found inside the vehicle linking the suspects to the shooting, authorities said.
Brown and the 17-year-old were arrested and booked on multiple charges: carrying a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, conspiracy and attempted murder.
Brown was booked into Sacramento County jail; the teenager was transported to juvenile hall.
