Texas university professor shot; wife faces murder charge

ARLINGTON — A University of Texas at Arlington lecturer was fatally shot Sunday night, and his estranged wife was in jail Monday facing a murder charge, authorities said, hours before the man's lawyer filed divorce papers, not knowing that his client was dead.

Arthur Alexander Reyes, 45, was found dead in the garage of the family home in the 1800 block of Lakeside Drive by officers responding to a report about a shooting about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, an Arlington police spokeswoman said.

Colette Reyes, 50, was arrested at the house, spokeswoman Tiara Ellis Richard said. No bail had been set as of Monday night, according to the Arlington Jail.
