WASHINGTON PARK -- Three men were charged Monday with stealing hundreds of feet of AT&T cable wire, including the son of a former state representative from the area.
Torque E. Younge, 50, of 1617 N. 46th St., East St. Louis, was charged Monday by the St. Clair County States Attorney's Office with theft. He is the son of the late Wyvetter Younge, who served East St. Louis in the Illinois House of Representatives for more than three decades. Torque Younge is being held in lieu of $40,000 bail.
Also charged were Arlando A. Jones, 29, of St. Clair, Mo., and Lorenzo W. Bruce, 40, of 1748 N. 46th St., East St. Louis. They also are being held in the Washington Park village jail on $40,000 bail.
Washington Park Detective Kim McAfee said the three are responsible for the theft of some AT&T cable wire that left many residents without telephone service and burglar alarm systems.
