The mother who allegedly delivered a baby into a toilet during a family party was found mentally fit Wednesday to stand trial on attempted first-degree murder charges in Monroe County.
John O'Gara, lawyer for Elyse J. Mamino, 23, and Monroe County State's Attorney Kris Reitz agreed to a sealed report from psychologist Dan Cueno, stating Mamino is fit to stand trial.
Mamino was charged with attempted first-degree murder in February after her newborn daughter was rescued from a toilet bowl Nov. 15 at a relative's home in Columbia.
