Police: Men used dollar on a string to rip off Texas lottery store

GRAPEVINE — This game had strings attached.

Two men were arrested Tuesday on suspicion that they used an altered dollar bill with a string on it to repeatedly feed a non-cash slot machine and steal about $130 in lottery tickets.

Police identified the men as Danny Joseph Lee, 29, of Houston and Brandon Glenn Essley, 24, of Euless.

They were in the Grapevine Jail Wednesday with bail set at $2,000 for Lee and $1,000 for Essley.

Lee will be charged with burglary of a coin-operated machine and unlawful use of a criminal instrument, police said Wednesday. The criminal instrument was the altered dollar bill, police said. Essley faces a charge of burglary of a coin-operated machine.
