Here’s a look at our panelists:
Congressman Robert C. Scott (D-Va.) is the chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee. He has served in the House of Representatives since 1993 and was only the second African American elected to Congress in Virginia’s history.
Laurie Combe is president of the National Association of School Nurses. For 25 years she served as a school nurse on intermediate and high school campuses in a school district in Texas.
Daniel Domenech is executive director of AASA, the School Superintendents Association. He has more than 36 years of experience in public education, including 27 years as a school superintendent.
Donna Harris-Aikens is the Senior Director of Education Policy and Practice at the National Education Association, serving on the Executive Director’s Cabinet. NEA Education Policy and Practice is the Association’s primary policy center on elementary and secondary education issues.
José Luis Vilson is a math educator for a middle school in the Inwood / Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, NY. He’s a committed writer, activist, web designer, and father.
Anna King has over 20 years of leadership experience at all levels of PTA and was elected president-elect of National PTA in June 2019. She previously served at the national level as a member of the board of directors, vice president of membership and as chair of several committees.
Qiana Thomason is the president and CEO of the Health Forward Foundation. She has dedicated her career to the improvement of health and wellness across the region, with a focus on communities with significant health disparities and those living in marginalized conditions.
