BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- U.S. Marshals arrested a Miami man convicted of smuggling Cuban nationals into the United States while he was attempting to flee the country at the Peace Arch border crossing in Blaine Friday, Jan. 23.
Angel Cespedes-Osorio, 34, was booked into the Whatcom County Jail at 7:00 p.m. Friday, where he awaits transfer to federal prison in Seattle, Sheriff Bill Elfo said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the southern district of Florida indicted Cespedes-Osorio along with 14 other people in June 2008 for allegedly smuggling 170 Cuban nationals into the United States in 2007 and 2008.
