He previously was a reporter at the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and the Cincinnati Enquirer. In 1990, Pugh was a co-winner of the Education Writers Association's national award for distinguished reporting.

Public in Deep South supports expanding Medicaid, poll finds, but lawmakers don’t
