He writes for the Anchorage Daily News, the Idaho Statesman and the McClatchy Washington bureau.
Cockerham joined the Washington bureau in 2012 from the Anchorage Daily News, where he covered Sarah Palin and Alaska politics. He previously worked for the Tacoma News Tribune, including coverage of state and federal politics and assignments in Iraq covering the war.
Cockerham's work has been honored with state, regional and national journalism awards including a McClatchy President's award for his role in coverage of political corruption in Alaska.
