Despite pleas from two North Carolina governors and top lawmakers, Sen. Barack Obama didn't sound eager Thursday to debate in North Carolina this month.

Rival Democrat Hillary Clinton has agreed to an April 27 debate in Raleigh. But Obama, speaking at the state fairgrounds, said he doubts a debate would cover any new ground. He also expressed frustration about Wednesday night's debate in Philadelphia, where he found himself on the defensive over comments about rural Americans and his relationship with his controversial pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

"I could deliver Senator Clinton's lines," he said. "I'm sure she could deliver mine."
