White House aides must appear before Congress, judge rules

The ruling is a setback for the Bush administration's sweeping assertion of executive privilege to prevent Congress from questioning Chief of Staff Joshua Bolton and former White House counsel Harriet Miers about the firing of nine U.S. attorneys. The judge said White House staffers can assert executive privilege in response to specific questions, but must appear in person to do so.
