Could Joe Barton, who defended BP, really lead energy panel?

Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, who everyone thought was facing long odds at becoming chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee because he called the $20 billion BP oil spill relief fund a "shakedown," may be improving his chances. He'll now be given a chance to make his case to the GOP Steering Committee without having to get a waiver because of term limits.
