Kagan's conflicts will keep her from ruling on many cases

From video violence to immigration enforcement, the court's 2010-2011 term will confront some of the nation's toughest controversies. But Elena Kagan, the court's newest justice, won't be sitting in on many of them because as Obama's solicitor general she took a position. The results of her absence could prove consequential.
