The fear of government intrusion into private lives was the underlying theme of a series of meetings U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, held Tuesday in his home district.
Coleda Darney of Derby called President Obama's health care reform plan socialism at a town hall meeting in Derby.
"I would request you and your fellow Republicans to please put the brakes on the Obama administration," she said to loud applause from a standing-room-only crowd of about 400 people in the Derby Recreation Center.
Tiahrt held town hall meetings in Wellington, Derby and Newton. He'll hold another in El Dorado today and one in Topeka on Thursday. Other town halls are planned for Independence and Coffeyville, and he may schedule more in Kansas City and Wichita areas, according to his staff.
