Congress won't try to keep Guantanamo detainees out of U.S. — for now

Congressional negotiators have agreed to drop an amendment to a defense appropriations bill that would have prevented the Obama administration from releasing any freed Guantanamao detainees into the United States or transferring them to U.S. prisons for trial. They also agreed not to ban the release of photos of detainee abuse after Obama promised to continue to oppose the photos' publication.
