Army vet who opposed Bush detainee policies takes key job

Phillip E. Carter, 33, a former Army captain, was an associate at New York’s Park Avenue law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge before taking the job this week of the deputy assistant secretary of defense for detainee affairs. He said he opposed Bush's detainee policies because he saw "the very soul of our military and our country at stake."
