Obama vows to put science first as he lifts stem-cell ban

President Barack Obama on Monday signed an executive order allowing federal financing of medical research using stem cells from discarded human embryos, the vanguard of a broader effort to end what he calls a Bush-era "war on science." He also signed a memo ordering a "strategy for restoring scientific integrity to government decision making."
