Gates prepared to stay on, but will Obama ask him to?

Defense Secretary Robert Gates would remain in his job for a time if President-elect Barack Obama were to ask him, defense officials tell McClatchy. But it's not clear that Obama will ask. Gates' aides say they think he will, but John Podesta indicated Monday no decision has been made. Retaining Gates would be controversial for many Obama supporters.
