Colin Powell, former secretary of state, endorses Obama

Colin Powell, a Republican once thought likely to be the first African-American president, endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president Sunday, delivering a blistering critique of John McCain's campaign, his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate, and the Republican Party. Analysts said the endorsement was one of the few likely to sway independents.
